Catholic Youth Organization Proudly salutes our Scholar-Athletes

The CYO acknowledges the important role academics play in the overall success of any student-athlete. Student-athletes often demonstrate the values at the core of our mission; “to develop values and strength of character in tomorrow’s leaders”. It is important to recognize the hard work and dedication of those CYO students who balance their commitment to their team while excelling in the classroom.

Students in our Catholic Schools or Parishioners in the Archdiocese that participate in a sanctioned CYO league or program are eligible to receive this recognition. Administrators will nominate their student athletes to receive a pin on the scholar athlete home page.

In order to receive this recognition, students will be nominated by their principal or Parish CYO Coordinator after verifying their academic criteria that achieve high honor roll or equivalent numeric grade while competing and completing a CYO sports activity for an entire season.

Again, in collaboration with our Catholic Schools and Parishes, we want to identify and recognize those children that are excelling in the classroom and balancing their studies with athletics. CYO acknowledges the important role academics plays in the overall success of any student-athlete. It is important to recognize the hard work and dedication of those CYO students who balance their commitment to their team while excelling in the classroom. Students who accomplish this goal will be recognized in a meaningful way that celebrates their commitment in both academics and athletics.

In order to earn the title “Scholar-Athlete” the student must have made either their schools honor roll or have an 89 or great GPA in either the 1st or 2nd Semester. Each parish will be responsible to developing their own process of confirming their student’s eligibility (copy of report card). The parish coordinator will forward an approved list of scholar-athletes to the County Coordinator who will provide the required number of pins.
